What is a plugin?

A plugin is what you build and ship on Alpic: the way ChatGPT and Claude users use your product inside the AI conversation. Every plugin is built on MCP and takes one of two forms:
  • MCP server: exposes tools the model can call, with no interface of its own.
  • MCP App: an MCP server whose tools also show interactive views, such as a product list or a booking form, right in the chat.
In ChatGPT, a plugin bundles an MCP server, an app interface and optional skills that tell the model when to use it, and is listed in the Plugins directory. In Claude, the same server is listed as a connector in the Connectors Directory.
